Progesterone May Not Help Women With History of Miscarriages, Study Finds

December 1, 2015 By Eli Reshef

CATHERINE SAINT LOUIS, New York Times, NOV. 25, 2015 http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/26/health/progesterone-may-not-help-women-with-history-of-miscarriages-study-finds.html?ref=health RESHEF's Comment: In my field, progesterone is frequently given to prevent miscarriages. Two theories about the relationship between progesterone and miscarriages exist: low progesterone may lead to miscarriages; and unhealthy pregnancies not destined to … [Read more...]

Transitional Chaos or Enduring Harm? The EHR and the Disruption of Medicine

October 27, 2015 By Eli Reshef

Lisa Rosenbaum, M.D.,  N Engl J Med 2015; 373:1585-1588 October 22, 2015 http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1509961 RESHEF's Comments: I personally detest EHR's and so do most of my colleagues. As it is implied below, the purpose of EHRs is to facilitate billing, not quality of health care. Most of us, however, have or will have to transition to EHR's, as antithetical as it is to good health care delivery. Some of my colleagues … [Read more...]

Tearing Down the Fetal Tissue Smokescreen

October 17, 2015 By Eli Reshef

By Raegan McDonald-Mosley, M.D., M.P.H., New England Journal of Medicine, October14, 2015 http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMsb1513242?query=featured_home RESHEF's Comments: Please also read my op-ed in the Oklahoman in August 2015 about this issue. Below is an excellent articulation of the recent addition to the war on women. You think this is a hyperbole? When you add this heavily-politicized fetal tissue anti-Planned Parenthood … [Read more...]

The Strange Laws That Dictate What Your Doctor Tells You

October 17, 2015 By Eli Reshef

By Olga Khazan, The Atlantic, Oct 16, 2015 http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/10/the-laws-that-stand-between-you-and-your-doctor/410722/ RESHEF's Comment: One of the roles of a physician is as a confidante and a patient advocate. If local or federal authorities limit the ability of a physician to discuss medical matters, even those matters that have been heavily politicized, like gun control and abortion, good healthcare is … [Read more...]

OKC Doctor: Planned Parenthood defunding would curtail reproductive care options

August 17, 2015 By Eli Reshef

BY ELI RESHEF, M.D. • Published: August 16, 2015 Oklahoman Wars are not deliberately waged against defenseless beings. Victims of wars, however, are primarily the defenseless. While the expression “war on women” is most irritating to those who claim ownership of “life” in the abortion debate, it is the unintended consequence of an impassioned conflict. Eli Reshef  Not many doubt the passion in Sen. James Lankford’s speech on the … [Read more...]

Meet Dr. Eli Reshef

The other day, another physician asked me if I had to start all over again, would I still become a physician and would I still choose Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as my sub-specialty. I answered with a resounding “yes”. I feel very fortunate to get up every morning looking forward to going to work. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to help people every day, that is every day, including weekends and holidays. Read More About Me Here-
